Bottle Specifics: 127 proof Aged 14 Years Weekly Late this summer I was invited by fellow Cleveland Bourbon Club member, Michael Boland (Mabel’s BBQ restaurant manager), to participate in a Knob Creek barrel selection for Mabel’s BBQ.For those not familiar with Mabel’s BBQ, it is a Cleveland-style barbecue restaurant located in the heart of downtown Cleveland and owned by the city’s iconic chef Michael Symon.

    I can’t believe I paid $12 more for a bottle of this swill, which I will be pouring down the kitchen drain. There goes $60. Should have stuck to my regular Knob Creek instead of believing all these bogus reviews about the single barrel reserve, which is night and day apart from regular Knob Creek … Knob Creek comes of the still at 130 proof and then is diluted to 125 proof for barreling. I'm not sure where these barrels are aged. It is then diluted again to either 100 or 120 proof for bottling. Knob Creek is diluted twice in the process as compared to once for Baker's and zero for Booker's.

    Color & Consistency: As expected, Knob Creek Single Barrel is typically deep in color showing-off the near decade in the barrel. This Single Barrel Select has a deep copper and mahogany brown-reddish color. The consistency is oily and thick- again showing off it's age. For a Jim Beam product actually quite outstanding. Notes: A premium version of their Knob Creek Whiskey, this, a single barrel version, comes in at 120 proof (more or less a standardized barrel proof).This is the first time they have released a single barrel version of this and it is one of their higher proof whiskies – the others being the Booker’s Bourbon (proof varies but usually north

    Knob Creek 9yr Single Barrel Reserve bourbon is a new release with a different flavor profile and much higher proof than the classic Knob Creek expression.
